When building something in Fibreglass you generally require a mould of some type.

Over the years we have made countless fibreglass moulds. Many of the items included as examples and products throughout this site are made from some sort of fibreglass mould. As you can see in the image galleries, the fibreglass moulded items can be for any use. They can be for structural purposes only and so don't need to look anything special. They can also be quite complex and need to have a gloss finish and look beautiful.

To have a fibreglass item made with a fibreglass mould is a simple two step process.

First a "Plug" has to be built.

The plug is an exact copy or representation of the item to be fibreglass moulded.

Second the fibreglass mould is made.

Once the plug is build a fibreglass mould is then made of the plug. The fibreglass mould is an exact copy of the plug. After the fibreglass mould is made the plug is no longer needed and is discarded.

The new fibreglass mould taken from the plug is now what is used to make the fibreglass items required. When you have the new fibreglass mould you are able to make as many identical fibreglass items as you require.

There are many ways and types of fibreglass moulding systems. They can range from simple disposable moulds for making only one or a couple of items, vacuum moulds, injection moulds, infusion and normal hand lay-up. Each type is best suited to the item being made, the volume and the budget allowed.
