Moulding a Fibreglass Rotor Coil Insulation Cheek.

The client required rotor coil insulation cheeks for the jobs they were doing. Unfortunately it was found to be impossible to obtain the items any where. They decided to have their own items moulded.

The insulation cheeks had special construction requirments. They needed to withstand temperatures of up to 180 degrees and were quite precise in their dimensional tolerances.

After extensive searching, I imported a drum of very expensive, special heat resistant Epoxy/Vinyl Ester blend of resin from Taiwan.

Split moulds of the items were made and the finished items were made using a pigmented mixture of the resin.
