Moulding a Fibreglass Kitchen Underbench

I was given two stainless steel moulds to build 3 kitchen under-bench structures. An under-bench sits under and around a kitchen bench unit to make it look stylish.

The moulds were both incorrectly and poorly made. They had grinder cuts and marks, there were rough places, holes and overall they were unsuitable for moulding. To make it possible for moulding, holes were filled with plasticine and everything covered in a lot of wax and several very thick coats of PVA release agent.

In the end the fibreglassed items released alright. The look and finish of the underbenches weren't important to the client. Only the fibreglass shape. They would sand, straighten edges and paint them.
