Moulding a fibreglass door.

This is a custom moulded door. A simple wooden mould was made.

The mould for the first half of the door was gelcoated and fibreglassed. While the glass was still wet a wooden frame and a sheet of 3mm customwood were put into position.

When the first half of the door was dry it was removed. To make the second side of the door another sheet of fibreglass was layed up with gelcoat. While this fibreglass was still wet a sheet of 3mm mdf was put onto it and then the first side as well. Weights were then placed on the top to make sure it bonded correctly.

The completed door was removed and the edges trimmed. The trim lines on the sides were touched up with gelcoat to hide them.
