Transom Rebuild

This boat was brought to me with the transom already completely cut off. The person who previously did this had also made a plywood insert to replace the old transom.

I was asked to finish the job.

I cleaned up the hull edges and the existing fibreglass already on the boat. I had to alter the plywood transom insert quite exstensively to make it fit into the hull. I then glued the insert into the hull using a high strength expanded silica filler. Any remaining gaps were filled with glue and timber. The egdes of the hull had lost there correct shape so a rebuilt this. The entire new transom was then made smooth ready for fibreglassing.

Once glassed I screeded the surface of the new transom with filler and sanded it fair. The inside of the hull was glued, filled, glassed and flowcoated.

After the transom was rebuild and faired the owner would paint it.
