Fibreglass Repair of a BMW Boot Lid.

A BMW boot lid was badly damaged on one end as well as a number of cracks over the rest of the lid. It was to be fibreglassed and bogged ready for the painter to do the final detail bogging, fairing and painting.

The break and cracks were ground and prepared for fibreglassing. The aim was to do this with minimum impact and not make the repairs a large job to be faired and painted later.

The main broken section was pulled back into shape with straps and rope and then glassed. After the glass was hard the boot now held the correct shape again. All remaining cracks were glassed.

All of the fibreglass repairs were carefully ground and then lighlty bogged. The aim was to keep the finished bog below the surface of the paint. This makes it easier for the painter to do his detail bogging and painting.
